Clubhouse/Bar update   30/11/2020

Following a meeting of our Bar Committee over the weekend we are writing to set out details of the proposed opening hours and guidelines for booking and use for our club lounge during December. We want to bring attention as much to the arrangements and guidelines as the opening hours in this communication as the context is very important.

Firstly, we are pleased to be able to open under the revised guidelines as we recognise the important role that availability of a safe controlled environment in which members can socialise together has to our general well-being at this time. However, we have noted that incidence of community transmission of Covid 19 is higher now than when we were open in the summer and while our experience in the Club has been positive to date, the fact is that the 14 day incidence rate within our local electoral areas at c. 150 per 100,000 remains high in relative terms.

Hence, we want to highlight the Clubs intention to STRICTLY APPLY the government guidelines and to enforce strict interpretations of these and extended health and safety measures which we will require all patrons to adhere to when we re-open. This is being undertaken to provide better protection to all our members and hence cooperation from all members is requested.

December opening hours are set out below along with booking requirements. Additional safeguarding measures include:-

  • All patrons )and staff) will be required to provide confirmation that they have not been experiencing Covid symptoms in the previous 7 days and to provide contact tracing details for our records;
  • All patrons will be required to wear masks on arrival and on departure and while circulating to and from their tables at all time’s while in the clubhouse building;
  • Use of the lounge is being limited only to those who purchase a substantial meal for consumption on the premises (please don’t expect this requirement to be relaxed as staff have been informed that it cannot be relaxed in any circumstances);
  • Private functions cannot be accommodated during this period:- table settings are limited to 2, 4 and/or 6 persons and bookings for no more than two linked tables will be accepted;
  • Patrons will be required to remain seated at their allocated tables at all time’s and are not permitted to circulate between tables;
  • Time limits are not currently anticipated to be required, but will be applied in cases where patrons are not adhering to the guidelines. The need for time limits may be reviewed in the light of actual experience in the coming weeks.

These measures have been determined to balance strong health and safety mechanisms with opportunity to avail of our club facilities over the Christmas period. We ask all members for their co-operation and look forward to welcoming all members over the Christmas period.

Please note that bookings can only be made on a week to week basis. Bookings outside the current week cannot be considered.
