Noel Ennis – R.I.P. 19th August 2021.

It's with great sadness we share the news that one of our longest club members, supporters and friend Noely Ennis passed away early this morning surrounded by his loving family. We'd like to offer our sincere condolences to Jean, Lisa, Mark, Alison and all the family. Our thoughts are with Noely's family and friends during this time. 


Noel is native of Newtown Park, Tallaght and commenced playing football with the Club in the 1950’s at juvenile level and won a South County Under 14 League title. He also represented the South County Dublin Juvenile Football League who played an Under 14 Inter League matches during this period. He played on the Club's Minor Football team who were defeated in the Minor Football Championship Quarter Final in 1957 and graduated onto the Club's Intermediate football team who were defeated by St.Brigid's in the Championship Semi Final in 1958.He continued to play on the Club's Junior Football teams during the 1960's and 1970's winning a number of Con O'Gorman Cup medals in this period. He also played for Urney Chocolates in the Dublin Business Houses Leagues during the 1960's and 1970's.  He was appointed trainer of the Club's then Junior A football team in 1971 which culminated in the team winning the Loving Cup in 1972 and Intermediate Football League in 1973.The team were unluckily beaten by St.Maur's in the Junior Football Championship Semi Final in 1972 and Man o War in the Quarter Final of 1973. He was also trained the Senior Football League Div 2 and St.Vincent de Paul winning teams of 1975 and thus in a short space of time the Senior Football team achieved League Div 1 status which has only been relinquished once since. He was Trainer Manager of the Senior Football Team who won the Senior Football League in 1981 and 1982. He was also a member of the Junior Football team who won the Conlon Cup and were Junior Football Championship Runners Up in 1980. He won Junior Football Championship and Conlon Cup medals in in 1982 on the Club's successful Junior Football Championship who reached 3 finals that year. His son Mark was also a member of that team.


In his younger days Noel was also an accomplished Soccer Player and played for local team Newtown Rangers, and at League of Ireland Level for St.Patrick’s Athletic and Drogheda.


He continued to train the Clubs Junior Football teams until the late 2000's.He served on the Club's Executive Committee during the 1980's and was also very heavily involved with the Club's Camogie Section during the late 1980's and early 1990's.

His daughter Alison was a prominent member of the teams during this period.


He was involved in running the Club's equipment shop a role that he performed very diligently and continued as a keen supporter of all the Club teams.    


Noel spend the early part of his working career in the HB-Urney Chocolate Factory in Tallaght and finished his employment with Gilbeys .He is survived by his wife Jean, Son Mark, Daughters Alison and Lisa, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Brother and extended family.
