Adult Hurling league roundup

The senior hurlers continued their winning ways in AHL2 on Saturday evening as they overcame a good Fingallians outfit on the main pitch 3-21 to 0-19.

The home team set the tone through an impressive defensive performance led by goalie Cae Brennan. David Horan and Sean Kennedy also stood out in the home defence as they helped hold out Fingallians for any goals. Full forward Sean Reilly (2-3) once again hit some key scores in the first half as he dispatched 2 well taken team goals before TD were reduced to 14 men just before the break.

In the second half Moo Byrne scored one of the points of the game as his effort from 65 yards out sailed over the bar as Davy Keogh (0-2) also hit two fine long range points. While midfield pairing Eanna O’Toole and Anto Barrett 0-4 dominated the middle ground. Davy Byrne (1-3) hit the 3rd goal with 15 mins remaining to put 9 points between the teams.

Bryan Keogh (0-5 3f), Liam Sinnot (0-2) and Fionn Lynch (0-1) ensured the hosts stayed on the front foot with the some well taken points throughout the game.

Next up in Whitehall Colmcilles on Saturday 18th away.

Meanwhile the Junior 1 hurlers received a walkover in AHL6 to St Sylvester’s. They take on Wild Geese on Sunday 19th in the next round in a crucial game to keep their promotion hopes alive.

The Junior 2 hurlers travelled to Blunden drive in the afternoon to take on O’Tooles in AHL9 and were unlucky not to come away with a win after racking up 0-23 with 16 scores from play. Club Minors Tom Clancy and Jake Maher both impressed on their adult debuts for the away team but O’Tooles dispatched 4 goals throughout to see the game out 4-13 to 0-23.
