AFL1 Ballyboden V Thomas Davis match report

Well done to the senior footballers who had a good win against Ballyboden earlier tonight in Pairc Ui Murchu.

Played in perfect conditions Ballyboden started the game strongly as they raced into an early lead to go 1-3 to 0-1 ahead after 8 mins. With former county player Michael Dara McCauley high fielding some of the early kickouts.

Thomas Davis settled into the game after that with some very good defensive work in particular from Adam Fallon and Aaron Shorten who turned over several balls which led to well taken long range points by centre back Eoin Kirby and midfielders Eamonn Conroy and Ryan Deegan.

Two first half goals came from Fionn Murray and Ryan Deegan as both players clinically finished the ball into the boden net. A peno by Fionn Murray late in the first half was also saved by the boden keeper which left Thomas Davis lead at the break 2-7 to 1-5.

Thomas Davis started the second half very well with the impressive Kevin Mullarkey and Conor Guilfoyle causing all sorts of problems for the boden fullback line with Kevin getting kicking some lovely points and both players winning a couple of frees which Fionn Murrray dispatched at ease.

Ballyboden put the pressure on for the last ten mins as they chased a couple of goals but the Thomas Davis defense held firm with Eoin Kirby,
Sean Kennedy and Robbie Crilly showing good leadership to hold out for the victory.

Final score Ballyboden St Endas 1-8 Thomas Davis 3-13
